Uterine Fibroids / Infertility
Uterine fibroids are noncancerous growths that develop within or on the uterus. Many women have no symptoms, but others may experience heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, or fertility issues. Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE) is a minimally invasive, image-guided procedure that shrinks fibroids by reducing their blood supply, an effective alternative to surgery such as hysterectomy or myomectomy.
Treatment depends on the severity of symptoms, fibroid size and location, age, and reproductive goals and may initially include medications to manage hormones and reduce symptoms. In extreme cases, myomectomy (fibroid removal) or hysterectomy (uterus removal) may be recommended.
